Matcha is all the rage at the moment... but what is it? Well, it's a super concentrated green tea; drinking one cup can be like drinking 10 cups of regular green tea for its nutrient value. It's super versatile, and one of our favourite ways to enjoy it is as a latte.
You might have spotted matcha lattes on the menu when you've been out and about, but did you know that they're also pretty easy to recreate at home? AND they're yummy with dairy-free alternative milks, too!
here's how you do it...
-
Using a hand held whisk, whizz up 1g matcha with a splash of milk to make a smooth paste
-
Add a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg, as well as a squeeze of agave syrup if you've got a sweet tooth
-
Top with hot frothy milk – if you don’t have a steamer on a big fancy coffee machine, then a microwave and whisk will do the same job!
If agave syrup isn't your thing, try infusing your milk with a vanilla pod or use coconut sugar to sweeten instead – there are lots of tweaks you can make to create your perfect matcha latte.
For an iced version in summer, follow the same recipe but pour over ice and top with cold milk - simple!
