Kenya tea producers grow massive quantities of black tea – more than 400 million kgs every year! For the last 25 years the Kenyan tea research foundation has been working on ways to diversify and make better quality / more interesting / more profitable teas.
Purple tea is one of the developments which has actually made it out into the field – it is a tea which is reputed to be healthier than a regular black tea and works well when flavoured with other teas.
We are not sure if purple will be the next green but watch this space…..
