There are many reasons why people decide to cut back on, or completely cut out alcohol from their diet. For those of you who’ve given this a go you might have noticed that it is surprisingly difficult to avoid the stuff whilst trying to maintain a social life. Bars, restaurants and even cinemas tend to offer alcoholic beverages as standard to accompany the occasion. In response to this entrepreneur Catherine Salway is opening  Redemption - an alcohol free bar.

It’s set to launch this Sunday as a pop up on the rooftop of Netil House in Hackney running for ten consecutive Sundays, and then from September it will launch as a permanent venue in Westbourne Park. Instead of serving the usual beers, wines and spirits, Redemption will offer mocktails, iced teas and “superfruit” infusions. Common place bar food such as beer nuts or burgers will be replaced by mostly raw, healthy alternatives as well as, according the website, “desserts that are good for you” (that last bit has certainly got this teapig intrigued). There will also be DJs on hand and live music performances to set the mood for long summer days. It’s already proving to be popular with Londoners as tickets for this first Sunday are already sold out. So if the idea of meeting up with friends chatting over a pitcher of iced tea appeals to you, check this place out.
