I, teapig Hayley, got to run a stall at the annual Pimlico South West Fest Gala day this weekend, with a delicious mixture of iced tea and beautiful cakes sale. Helped by some great bakers in the teapigs office, not only were we sampling the delights of iced tea to people, we also managed to raise some money for Trekstock, a charity who aim to raise funds and awareness for young people affected by Cancer. They aim to teach young people about the importance of making informed lifestyle and health choices, so what better than a healthy twist on a traditional bakes sale?
Recipes included brownies with beetroot and orange cake slices with parsnip in and just go to show it isn’t all about unhealthy stuff to have a sweet treat! Using a range of recipes from The Detox Kitchen, who provide healthy plans and ideas for making nutritious meals easy. I also discovered the beauty of spelt flour from teapig Becky’s yummy brownie recipes; so it seems that healthy baking is the way forward for the next baking session in the teapigs office!
